A Message From Our President
I am honored to be serving as the President for NWMDA. This is such a fantastic group of medical and dental professionals. The group is open to all specialties. It is so great to reconnect with NWMDA members each year.
This group combines a one of a kind educational experience with CMEs, incredible skiing (3,000 + vertical feet) and other outdoor winter activities. There is a unique camaraderie among the various medical specialties that is not found elsewhere.
Event dates for our 77th annual meeting will be Wednesday February 14th though Saturday February 17th, 2024. Registration and our welcome reception will be Wednesday evening at the Sun Valley Inn.
Our scientific program is organized by Dennis Siegler, MD. It includes speakers from many different specialties speaking to state of the art topics in their specialty areas as well as to current topics in medicine and dentistry. These sessions are very engaging and occur in the Boiler Room on Thursday morning and afternoon and the mornings on Friday and Saturday. This allows registrants to ski with their friends and families on the beautiful Sun Valley slopes!
Our annual President’s Dinner is Thursday at Trail Creek Cabin. This is a very special night. Trail Creek is a historic cabin and is no longer open to the public. NWMDA is lucky to have Sun Valley open this for us and prepare a wonderful gourmet meal with wine pairings selected by Brian Cameron, MD, and the Wine Committee.
Friday is our annual ski race held immediately after the morning scientific session. This race is for all ages and all levels of skiing! The course is below the Roundhouse which is accessible from the gondola. Non-skiers can come and watch the fun! I highly recommend participating in this event, it is truly fun for all. We have a wonderful emcee for the event who entertains us with fun trivia about the participants! After the race stay for lunch at the Roundhouse and try their famous cheese fondue!
This great week comes to a close Saturday evening at the home of Larry and Carol Mast. They open up their home for the evening. Members and guests bring hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer, and there is a race awards ceremony! Many also earn a Nastar medal. It is a great evening. We are so thankful for the generosity of our hosts.
Sun Valley is a place very near and dear to me, I learned to ski on Dollar Mountain and have spent so many memorable winters skiing on Baldy with my family. I encourage you to bring your families and other medical professionals to this meeting. It is a truly unique and special meeting, one of a kind which is why I attend this meeting every year.
